
Al Jazeera joins SBS world news line-up
The Al Jazeera English news broadcast joins SBS’s portfolio of leading international news programs,which also includes The ournal from Germany’s Deutsche Welle,and PBS News Hour from the United States.
SBS Director of News and Current Affairs, Paul Cutler, said that Al Jazeera will complement SBS’s already comprehensive world news offering.

Head quartered in Doha,Qatar,Al Jazeera English is the sister channel to the Al Jazeera Arabic language service launched in1996,and is the only English language news service based in the Middle East. Al Jazeera was launched to promote debate and give a voice to untold stories, and gained attention following its coverage of significant events in the Middle East, including the war in Afghanistan and more recently,the uprisings of the ‘Arab Spring’.
SBS is the only national free to air network to broadcast Al Jazeera English news in Australia.
